About Rebekah Barnes, LCSW

Evidence-based Therapy Rooted in Scripture

Rebekah Barnes knows what it’s like to navigate life’s unexpected twists—and she’s passionate about walking alongside others through theirs. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida, she blends the hope of faith in Jesus with evidence-based practices, offering a safe and practical space for healing and growth. Beyond the therapy room, she is a wife, mother, and pastor’s wife who embraces life fully—finding joy in running along Florida’s coast, making music, laughing with family, and building deep, meaningful relationships.

Her work is shaped by a deep compassion for those who have walked complex paths. She has extensive experience supporting foster and adoptive parents, adults who were adopted, and those who grew up in the foster care system—helping them navigate identity, belonging, and healing. She also walks closely with women (18+) facing transitions, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm, creating space for clarity, resilience, and renewed hope.

With over 19 years in full-time ministry, Rebekah understands the unique joys and pressures of serving others. She comes alongside those in ministry or non-profit work, offering practical tools to guard against burnout and compassion fatigue—while encouraging a Christ-centered well of strength to sustain their calling.

Rebekah's Approach

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT addresses anxiety and depression by modifying dysfunctional thinking, positively influence emotions and alter actions. CBT helps individuals develop healthier ways of coping by teaching practical skills such as: recognizing and reframing distorted thoughts, developing problem-solving strategies, learning relaxation techniques, and improving emotional regulation.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT helps people manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and reduce self-destructive behaviors by balancing acceptance and change. It teaches practical skills in mindfulness to stay present, distress tolerance to handle crises, emotion regulation to manage feelings, and interpersonal effectiveness to communicate and connect better. DBT empowers individuals to build a more stable and fulfilling life.

Attachment-based Approach

This trauma-informed approach focuses on healing relationship based trauma—often due to experiences like foster care, adoption, abandonment, or emotionally harmful family dynamics. It addresses challenging behaviors by discovering unmet needs rooted in early relational trauma. By understanding these developmental gaps, attachment therapy works to rebuild secure, emotionally healthy attachments that support lifelong connection and growth.

Neurotheology
Approach

Neurotheology integrates insights from interpersonal neuropsychology with spiritual experience rooted in a biblical worldview. It examines how faith, relationships, and the brain interact—creating a pathway for deep healing, emotional growth, and spiritual renewal. By bridging science and Scripture, it helps us understand how God designed the mind to thrive through connection, purpose, and divine truth.

"He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me
you can do nothing."
